Ticket Sales Intern - Charlotte Stone Crabs - Ripken Baseball (Port Charlotte, FL)

Ticket Sales Intern Summary:

As a successful Ticket Sales Intern, your main responsibility is to learn the ropes and provide support in sales-related areas of the business. Charlotte Stone Crabs interns will:

Assist sales staff with the selling, planning, and execution of all ticket sales included but not limited to groups, picnics, and suites.

Assist in developing and planning special events and memorable experiences with the Stone Crabs.

Individual will learn the TicketMaster program and assist in box office sales.

This is a sales oriented internship that provides great experience!

Responsibilities: As our Sales Intern, you will assist in areas such as:

• Ticket Sales • Database Management • Customer Service • Community Relations • Box Office Functions • Game day Entertainment & Operations

Additionally, you’ll gain valuable experience in the baseball industry, with full training provided and the opportunity to work closely with all members of the Stone Crabs front office! While this is an unpaid internship, we will gladly work with you and your school to provide college credit for your internship experience!

Qualifications

• CURRENT COLLEGE STUDENT OR MAY 2014 COLLEGE GRAD

• Strong written and verbal communication skills required.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications such as Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint

Game Day Operations Intern - Charlotte Stone Crabs - Ripken Baseball (Port Charlotte, FL)

This position will have the opportunity to experience and learn all aspects of Minor League Baseball on game days.

Responsibilities include pre -game duties such as:

- preparing Charlotte Sports Park for each home game by setting up tables, placing ads, etc.

- Greeting guests as they enter and leave the park

- Distributing promotional giveaways, game day programs, and exiting coupons.

- Assisting with Kids Zone activities

- Coordinating and leading on-field promotions, and scheduled picnics/birthday parties

Responsibilities for Game Day interns vary day to day. Game Day interns are the most important aspect of producing a GREAT fan experience each game

Qualifications:

We require:

• Beginner knowledge of computer programs such as Adobe InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, and/or Quark. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications such as Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint

• Strong written and verbal communication skills

• Strong organizational skills • Self-motivation and ability to take initiative

2014 Baseball Operations Intern

Ripken Baseball – Aberdeen, MD

As our Baseball Operations Intern, you will:

  • Absorb training and demonstrate the initiative, desire, and drive to help uphold the values established by the Ripken name and brand
  • Create and facilitate a fun, dynamic atmosphere for kids, developing camaraderie and acting as a positive role model during baseball and non-baseball activities
  • Serve as a tournament official, maintaining a working knowledge of rules and procedures, announcing games and operating scoreboards
  • Anticipate, work through, and solve problems with campers and tournament teams with patience and understanding
  • Exhibit authority and responsibility on the complex, while coordinating resources with other interns, seasonal staff and supervisors
  • Develop an understanding and execute pre-event and post-event preparations including baseball equipment, filling water/ Gatorade coolers, and press box set up
  • Act as an overnight counselor during Ripken Experience camp weeks
  • Generate ideas and establish objectives under the direction of the Baseball Operations Team
  • Shadow and assist our sport turf management staff in the maintenance, repair, and upkeep of the complex baseball diamonds and common grounds as needed
  • Develop relationships across departments including, but not limited to, amateur sales, grounds crew, and sponsorships

 

Required Skills:

  • MUST be a current college student or recent graduate needing college credit
  • Prior Baseball/Softball experience with ability to lift 70 lbs., throw, and run
  • Outgoing, friendly personality and excellent communication skills, strong initiative
  • Strong detail-orientation, with ability to problem-solve, and good time-management skills
  • Ability to work from early June (earlier if possible) – mid August (emergency circumstances notwithstanding)
  • Work Schedule will vary, nights and weekends will be required
  • Ability to travel for multiple weeks with staff

Preferred Skills:

  • A passion for sports and prior work experience in customer service
  • Childcare, safety, first aid and/or CPR training

2014 CAL RIPKEN WORLD SERIES Team Reporter – Volunteer Opportunity - Ripken Baseball (Aberdeen, MD)

The Cal Ripken World Series (CRWS), held at The Ripken Experience in Aberdeen, Md., is the culmination tournament of the Babe Ruth League’s Cal Ripken 12u Division. Teams from eight international countries and 10 United States regions, face off to compete for the CRWS title. The 15th annual CRWS will take place from August 8-17, with Orientation Day at Under Armour on August 7.

Summary:

Volunteer Team Reporters will be assigned two teams (1 domestic, 1 international) to shadow throughout the 2014 CRWS Tournament, beginning from regional championships, which concluded at the end of July/Beginning of August, through the end World Series. Team Reporters will become fully entrenched in their teams to capture behind-the-scenes feature stories on topics including players, coaches, team travel, host families, tournament experience, etc.

 

Team Reporters will be provided with the following:

  • Food and beverage vouchers for use at the Cal Sr.’s Yard concession stands each game day
  • Complimentary Under Armour CRWS-branded apparel
  • Apple iPads, provided by AT&T, for use during the tournament

Responsibilities:

  • Follow two, predetermined teams prior to and during the CRWS tournament

(1 domestic, 1 international)

  • Write daily game recaps and conduct interviews for feature stories highlighting teams, players, coaches, host families, etc. and update team blogs on the CRWS website (http://worldseries.ripkenbaseball.com)
  • Tweet from team Twitter accounts highlighting overall experiences both on the field and off the field
  • Report directly to the CRWS Coordinator
  • Collaborate with CRWS Corporate Sales team, as needed, to assist with sponsorship fulfillments

Requirements:

  • Must be a current undergraduate student, graduate student or a recent college graduate
  • Relevant experience and/or education in the areas of Communication, Journalism or Sports Management
  • Must have own transportation to and from Orientation and The Ripken Experience in Aberdeen
  • Experience working with Apple technology, including but not limited to iPads
  • Flexibility to work long hours on weekends and weeknights during the tournament

Responsibilities:

• Assisting in planning current sponsorship partner events and also potential partner events
• Providing support to the Director of Corporate Partnerships , including attending meetings and putting together sales proposals
• Sponsorship fulfillment

• Assisting with the planning and execution of Sponsorship Title Nights for IronBirds games as well as other tabling opportunities and sponsor events throughout the season.

• Working with marketing to make sure we are maximizing all of our efforts to over deliver to our clients
