Group Event Specialist – Aberdeen IronBirds - Aberdeen IronBirds (Aberdeen, MD)

Overview:

A successful Group Event Specialist’s primary responsibility is to schedule group outings with local civic groups, non-profit organizations, camps and partners. The Group Event Specialist will also be responsible for renewing an existing group of defined season and group ticketing clients and will be free to sell all Aberdeen IronBirds ticketing inventory including premium seating, suites, season tickets and mini-plans.

Responsibilities:

  • Complete approximately 75 phone calls per day to potential group ticket clients.

  • Renew existing ticketing accounts at a rate of 90% or higher.

  • Provide customer service to existing accounts by visiting with the accounts throughout the season and off-season to ensure personalized, continual contact.

  • Attend community functions and events, representing the IronBirds’ organization in a friendly, sales-focused role.

  • Absorb objection-handling training, and implement strategies while on the phone with decision-makers.

  • Think creatively to enhance group ticketing opportunities for buyers.

  • Maintain database of new and existing prospects and clients.

  • Prospect for quality leads and build new sales from existing wait list.

  • Visit with accounts and maintain and develop relationships with season seat and group buyer clients.

  • Work all Aberdeen IronBirds games.

    Qualifications:

    Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Sports Management or related field

  • Strong ability to communicate

  • Drive, determination, and a strong work ethic

  • Willingness and ability to listen and learn

  • Ability to work long hours, including weekends
     

    Preferred:

  • Prior work experience or internship in professional sports
