The Aberdeen IronBirds are owned by Cal Ripken, Jr., yup-the same Cal Ripken, Jr. that broke Lou Gherig’s streak, and are a Single-A affiliate of the Baltimore Orioles. Our team plays at spectacular Leidos Field at Ripken Stadium which is only a twenty-five minute drive from beautiful Baltimore and Oriole Park at Camden Yards. The team is aggressive and invests in its product; in fact, in the last year, over $2 million dollars has been invested in keeping our gorgeous ballpark state of the art.

WHAT’S YOUR PATH? 
We prefer to fill our management positions with people that have learned our ticket marketing methods. If you come to work for the IronBirds in tickets and do well, you’ll have a chance to grow within our organization, and you’ll grow much faster than you would with any other team. Do well and you could be managing your own staff within a few years.

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING 
Tickets, remember, it's tickets. You’d be a full-time salesperson making face-to-face sales calls to corporate executives. The position will be selling corporate ticket packages including season seat memberships, luxury SkyBoxes, mini-plans and group events and outings. We don’t expect that you’ll know how to sell our different ticket packages, so we provide extensive training. We’ll teach you how to make an appointment with the decision maker and how to help select the best ticket package for their company.

QUALIFICATIONS

Food and Beverage: Food/Beverage Management
Food & Beverage Director - Aberdeen IronBirds (Aberdeen, MD)

Overview:

The successful Director, Food & Beverage will oversee all food and beverage operations at The Ripken Experience-Aberdeen, including those at Ripken Stadium. The Director oversees a staff and operation that supports amateur baseball, professional baseball, catering, premium clubs and luxury suites, and events. As the leader of the department, the Director will be responsible for all financial, personnel and food quality verticals.

Responsibilities:

As our Director of Food & Beverage, you will:

  • Design and implement an annual Strategic Plan, including menus and operations efforts, to increase revenues, selection and quality, all while improving customer service and minimizing food and labor costs

  • Supervise full-time staff and seasonal staff members including. 

  • Oversee ordering and inventorying of food and beverage materials and supplies

  • Provide timely sales reports and flash summaries to the General Manager for all events, including third-party events

  • Working with Concessions Manager, create standard operating procedures for all locations

  • Negotiation contracts with vendors and work with third-party contractors to ensure cutting edge, financially beneficial relationships

  • Oversee hiring and training process of all seasonal employees

  • Prepare budgets and operate under budgetary guidelines; forecast for the future

  • Create and promote a synergistic relationship with team members in all departments, service groups, and business entities

  • Provide feedback, ideas and recommendations to senior management

  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

We require:

  • Bachelor’s degree and 3-5 years of Food & Beverage operations experience at a manager- or director-level

  • Ability and willingness to multi-task

  • Excellent people-management skills and extensive experience in managing employees at many levels

  • Strong time-management skills, coupled with excellent oral and written communication skills

  • At least 1 year previous experience in budgeting/forecasting

  • Effective customer service skills

  • Valid Driver’s License

  • An entrepreneurial spirit that will strive to provide the highest quality of F&B operations to external customers

 

We STRONGLY prefer:

  • Prior experience with F&B in a professional sports environment

  • Experience with Quest POS
